Olieven Development Association is an NPO that was founded in 2009 with the aim to be a positively influential organization that supports the general well-being of community members through basic social services, entrepreneurial skills, and personality development to reduce the suffering of the most vulnerable group by providing them with tools and skills so that they can stand on their feed.

We provide service for poverty alleviation and youth development within the community of Olievenhoutbosch, Laezonia, and Mooiplaas with the aim of strengthening service delivery goals as per the National development plan vision

Sustainable livelihood programs

This is where our food & nutrition programs are initiated to assist socially affected community members to build the economy through self-sustenance. We refer those in need of food parcels to food banks department. We do job placement when there’s a job opportunity so that they can better themselves and their families as well.

Advice, Information, and refferal

This is our information office where you will get all the information about the centre, advice for career choices and referral to other government institutions. You will be advised according to your needs and an assessment will be done before sending you to any skill that you require. We also provide free internet access, newspapers & journals as a means to link both the beneficiaries on the soft skills offered at centre & the general community to career or job-related opportunities. We also refer members of the community depending on their problems or queries to the correct Government Department for solutions.

Social Programs

Our social programs promote the health and well-being of the community. We have a social worker for those who need counseling while at the centre. For cases that require a more professional intervention, social workers and social auxiliary workers will visit their families. We offer after-school programs, we cook nutritious meals and teach them life skills, and teach them about human rights, child protection, and safety e.g “ not to talk to strangers as they are stealing kids nor rape them and we also help them with school homework.


Soft and Technicial Skills

The training will have work readiness, end-user computing, computerized cashier training, security officer training, cleaning training, call center and technical skills.


Work Readiness

Work readiness is a 3 day program that aims at developing the personality of an individual through instilling the following; moral regeneration, communication, confidence building, money sense, time management, and goal setting.


Just come to the centre for screening and assessment and fill up the registration form. The skills development programs take up to 6 months.

Cultural day event

Encouraging staff and beneficiaries to share their cultural practices and plan events that allow everyone to explore their traditions and culinary staples.


Strategic planning with staff

Empowering all the employees to feel responsible and engage with their work, plan initiatives and improve workplace culture.


Sports day at work

Encouraging staff and beneficiaries to keep fit and take care of their bodies. This day also serves as team building as they work as a team to win.


Community Awareness and Outreach

Doing community awareness activities to increase community knowledge of the available programs and services the centre is offering.


Coding program for children

Computer programming brings out the creative element in children. It requires logical thinking and builds problem-solving skills.
